- Speed up or slow down the music tempo without affecting the music key (pitch) Change the music key (pitch) without affecting the tempo; Change the music 'speed' (playback rate) as if vinyl records were played at higher or lower speeds than rated; Attenuate singing vocals in songs while still playing the instrumental music.
- Speed up audio without making it sound funny! The algorithm behind audio speed changer uses time stretching to achieve a faster or slower playback without changing the pitch of the sound. This helps keep the key of the music even at double speed, allowing you to play along without re-tuning your instrument or transposing the piece.
Winamp was first released in 1997, when Justin Frankel and Dmitry Boldyrev, formerly students at the University of Utah, integrated their Windows user interface with the Advanced Multimedia Products ('AMP') MP3 file playback engine. The name Winamp (originally spelled WinAMP) was a portmanteau of 'Windows' and 'AMP'.
